Establishing a First Nations security operations centre

There are many barriers to entering our industry, and we hope our legacy makes it easier for other Indigenous businesses to follow our lead. We believe we are creating a vibrant Indigenous digital community in Queensland that will benefit our state, the industry, and the national economy.

In April 2023, Baidam Solutions launched the world’s first 24/7 Indigenous-staffed security operations centre (SOC) in Brisbane.

Founded in 2018, Baidam Solutions is an Indigenous ICT security company that provides industry-leading network and application security services to government and business. They are committed to social outcomes, reinvesting 52% of their profits into initiatives for First Nations peoples.

To meet the growing demand for cyber security professionals, Baidam Solutions takes an innovative approach to talent development. Their SOC functions as an operations centre and a training facility for First Nations people seeking a career in cyber security.

The SOC staff receive ongoing mentoring, training, and career advancement opportunities. They progress through operational tiers, gaining new skills at each level. Once fully accredited and experienced, staff will be encouraged to move on to other employers, using the employment pathways created by Baidam Solutions.
